MT Finance Vs Enra in the Charity Christmas Clash

From sponsoring penguins to supporting homelessness charities, we have a long history of giving to causes we care passionately about. But this year we’re doing things differently. Instead of simply donating, we decided it was time for a proper fundraiser. After putting our heads together with Enra Specialist Finance, we created the perfect event: the Charity Christmas Clash. A football match which sees our two companies go against each other to raise money for Spread a Smile and Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

the original children’s hospital

Well-known for their pioneering research and impeccable care of seriously ill children – as well as looking after their parents – Great Ormond Street Hospital was founded back in 1852. The UK’s first dedicated inpatient facility for young people, it opened with only 10 beds but has since grown to accommodate the 619 children who come through its doors every day. Their determination that ‘sick doesn’t always mean being sad’ impacts everything they do. From the Play Team, who are dedicated to bringing fun into the hospital, to the purpose-built Sight and Sound Centre for patients with sight and hearing loss, everything has been considered to make GOSH as much of a home from home as possible.

Despite their best efforts, there are certain times of the year where it really does mean the world to be at home. One of them is Christmas- which is why MT Finance has chosen to fundraise for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

spreading smiles

Enra Specialist Finance will be fundraising for Spread a Smile. With a focus on ‘distracting seriously ill children from the monotony of hospital stays by spreading joy, laughter and positive memories’, the charity offers a variety of free services to under 18s. Always imaginative, these include entertainers, outings, events and art initiatives. Working with 15 NHS partners across the UK – including GOSH – Spread a Smile isn’t limited to only visiting those in hospital; they also help children who are in hospices or recuperating at home.

Even the pandemic didn’t stop them. By early March 2020 they had paused in-person visits and in just over a week launched Smile TV. An on-demand service featuring celebrity interviews, art classes and teen favourites, it acts as an entertainment hub for a wide range of ages.

how to help

To continue with the amazing work they’re currently doing, these two charities need more support, which is why MT Finance and Enra Specialist Finance is so proud to be fundraising for them. We are delighted to have the opportunity to participate in this game and to raise money for two incredibly important charities. No doubt the competition on the pitch will be as fierce as the competition off it!

If you’d like to donate, contributions can be made to the Just Giving page here. We really do appreciate everyone’s generosity. Let’s do what we can to help a child this Christmas.
